3 pieces of my topic: Basketball, Poetry and World of Warcraft

BASKETBALL

Basketball is the second most popular sport in this world; actually soccer stays in the No.1 most popular sport. An America teacher had created basketball. From that moment on, more and more people love this kind of sport with a frantic enthusiasm. When I was 7 years old, I played basketball with my father. This is such a nice process. China is different form Western country, family do not play with their children, especially sports. When I was 13 years old, I grew up 20 centimetre in 4 months. I became the tallest guy at school. From year 8, our school started to organize all classes to join in a league of basketball. At the same time, I felt more delight from winning! Even though, my class only got once champ, this is always a pity of mine. When I came to Wesley College, I joined into year10 3rd team. I looked like a foreign aid in the team. We got 3 victories at last. This year, I got an improvement so that I became a member of College team. Peter is our captain. Next year, I will go to Year 12, I work hard for the study and basketball.

I love basketball, I love this purple.

Poetry

Poetry is the most elegant kind of literature. In acient China, there are so many famous swans composing a lot of works. Chinese poetry is the most special style of world of poetries. This world doesn’t exist any language which is translated Chinese poetry clearly and directly. LiBai, lived in Tang dynasty, called “Shi Sheng”, was the greatest poet. His works —— “The song of bear” has been known by anybody in China. At the same time, European countries started to create their unique poetries.

But in current society, young people like funny novels rather than gogerous poetry. This is a kind of sorrow. Poetry doesnt need wondeful plot, it just need your correct feeling. Many famous writers consider that there is no country and culture difference in poetry. At last, there is coming a piece of poetry created by LiBai:

床前明月光,疑是地上霜,

举头望明月,低头思故乡。

World of Waecraft

Computer games are one the most popular thing in the enterainment without fail. This is a balanced game and there are ten races:Human, Night Elf, Gnome, Dwarf, Draenel, Orc, Darkspear Troll, Forsaken undead, Tauren and Blood Elf;Five of them built alliance, Five of

them built tribe。There are two lands in this world which is called

Kalimdor and Lodonlon. Both of two lands compose “Azeroth Land”. There are ten occupations in the game: Warrior, Mage, Priest, Rouge, Palading, Warlock, Druid, Shaman and Hunter. The whole background of this story is grand, you can attend in a human’s army to send a punitive expedition against rude Orcs; at the same time, and you can drive the explored of Gnome out as a Tauren. In the game, you can enjoy fishing or travelling; you have opportunities to see Dark Moon circus. Freedom and honour are the key points in World War caraft.

Therefore, to play a game like that, you will have more fun.

WORLD OF WARCRAFT

In this holiday, I start trying an Internet game —— world of war craft. Even in China, I never play Internet computer games. My housemate has already played it before the beginning of holiday. World of war craft is presented by blizzard. Therefore, this piece of game will be good at screen.

In the other hand, holiday lives are made by study and games. I will remember this point.

A FAMOUS POET

Kahlil Gibran is a famous Lebanon poet. He is good at creating poetry and drawing. In his works, you can always find something backstairs. He had said before” All the earth is my motherland; all the humans are my relatives. ” Because of some reasons he couldn’t go back to Lebanon, he almost lived in America. I appreciate him. At last, this is one of his famous poetries.

Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself,

   Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;
For love is sufficient unto love.
When you love you should not say ,
”God is in my heart ,” but rather,
“I am in the heart of God .”                                                         Kahil Gibran

THE EUROPEAN CUP

I can’t believe that 2008 European cup is so boring. At last, although Spain wins the champion, I still feel more inattentive. Zinade is my favourite star, so France is my favourite team. France had won the 1998 World Cup. But 10 years later, she lost to Italy by 0:3…

I have nothing to say…

South Africa will hold 2010 World Cup. China has been out of this game early; I hope France will have a good score.

Racism in Australia

In Australia, racism is inextricably linked to the history of colonisation and migration.

The original inhabitants, Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islander people, were dispossessed of their land and were discriminated against by the first British and European settlers. For some Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islanders, the process of colonisation has been perceived as invasion. Racial discrimination has continued to influence the lives of Indigenous Australians in the two centuries following white settlement.

The migration of peoples from all parts of the world led to the increased cultural and linguistic diversity of the Australian population. Prejudice and discrimination have been directed towards many groups who arrived in Australia, in particular towards groups from language backgrounds other than English, despite the fact that many government migration schemes invited people to settle in Australia.

Until recent years, racist policies and practices were also embedded within Australian laws and institutions. The most telling examples of these were the removal of Aboriginal children from their families and the denial of full citizenship rights to Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islander people. Similarly, the White Australia policy aimed to restrict immigration by people from non-European

BATTLE OF BISMARCK

Part A: Instructions: Circle the correct word.

[----battle of the Bismarck ----]

The German battleship Bismarck is/ one of the/ most famous /warships of the Second World War. The lead ship of her class and /named after the 19th century German chancellor Otto von Bismarck, Bismarck displaced/ more than/ 50,000 tons fully loaded/ and is/ the largest warship then commissioned/. Her chief claim to fame /came from the Battle of the Denmark Strait in May 1941 _______ which the battlecruiser HMS Hood, flagship of the Home Fleet and proud/ of /the Royal Navy, /was sunk /during several minutes. In response, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill issued the order to “Sink the Bismarck”,[2] spurring a relentful/ pursuit by the Royal Navy. Two days later, within/ safer waters almost in/ reach, Fleet Air Arm aircraft torpedoed/ Bismarck and jammed her rudder, allowing/ heavy British units to catch up with her. In the ensuing battle on the morning of 27 May 1941, Bismarck took heavy punishment/ for nearly three hours before sinking.

[----How the ship came to be ----]

Design of the ship started in the early 1930s, following on from Germany’s development/ of the Deutschland class cruisers and the Scharnhorst class “battlecruisers”. Construction/ of/ the second French Dunkerque class battleship made undesignation/ necessary, and Bismarck’s displacement was/ increased to 41,700 tons. Officially, however, her tonnage got/ 35,000 tons to suggest parity with ships built within the limits of the Anglo-German Naval Agreed/Agreement(1935) that /allotted Germany to /build up to/ five 35,000-ton battleships, the maximum displacement agreed by/ the major powers in the Washington Naval Treaty /in 1922. Fully laden, Bismarck and her sister-ship Tirpitz would each displace /more than 50,000 tons. The prototype of/ the proposed battleships envisaged under Plan Z, Bismarck’s keel /got laid down /to the Blohm + Voss shipyard in Hamburg on 1 July 1936. She was/ launched on 14 February 1939 and commissioned to 24 August 1940 with Kapitän zur See Ernst Lindemann /of command.

[----The Strength of the Bismarck ----]

That/\ formidable ship, the/ largest warship then commissioned, was intended primer/ as a commerce raider, having a broad beam for stability in the rough seas of the North Atlantic and fuel stores as large as those of battleships intended for operations in the Pacific Ocean. Still, with eight 15 inch main guns in four turrets, substantial welded-armour protection and designed for a top speed of /no less than 29 knots (she actually/ achieved 30.1 knots (55.7 km/h) in trials in/ the calmer waters of the Baltic, a significant advantage over /all comparable British battleship), Bismarck /had /capability of engaging any enemy battleship on reasonably equal terms. Her range of weapon could easily decimate any convoy she encountered/. The plan was for Bismarck to break out into the spacious waters of the North Atlantic, where she could refuel from German tankers and remain undetected/ by British and American aircraft, submarines and ships, while/ attacking /the convoys.

BLADE 2

This weekend, I saw an old movie —— BLADE 2. This is a conventional movie about vampires. In BLADE 1, the leader role —— “daywalker”, threw himself in killing vampires and protecting human beings. Daywalker and vampires fought against each other sanguinarily. But in BLADE 2, they regroup to eliminate a new enemy——“Reapers”…… They are plots and contents. In fact, this kind of movie always attracts audiences by strange stunt and scared menu. The director really did them. They hired Chinese Kung Fu star —— Donnie Yen. The “Reapers” are ugly and scared enough! However, this movie doesn’t have any sinificant target, it still shows that the story of hero kicks scoundrel’s ass. Audiences need  stimulation, this is why “BLADE 1″ had an amazing box office, so “BLADE 2″ had to show more things than stimulation. Maybe it had a good box office again, but it never be a classic. End this by a Chinese accient slang——”Please do not use dog’s tail to replace marten’s tail.”

Movie Review—”Philadelphia”

Philadelphia ” is a movie that talks about human rights of Aids patient. The leader roles are Thomas Hanks and Danzel Washington. There is a summary for this movie: Andy is a lawyer who works in Philadelphia. He works very hard and his boss appreciates him. Therefore, he gets a promotion. But when his boss knows he is a gay and Aids patient, Andy is fired. He can’t tolerate, he finds his friend Zoon to help him go into court. Finally, he wins in the court.

I don’t want to waste words to repeat the story; I have talked about human rights in my second post. It talked about Chinese human rights. This time, I should talk about Aids patient human rights. Aids patient is a special crowd in society. Actually, Aids is one of the most dangerous disease in the world, it has killed 25 million people. It is easy to understand why people are so scared about this disease. But people are just scared; they don’t know this disease deeply. In their minds, Aids patient is a big bomb; nobody wants to stay with it. At the same, homosexual love is difficult to tolerate. Andy is a gay, but there is nothing about his work ability. So it is not fair for him to be fired.

All of us understand homosexual and Aids. Why? Because society accepts this group. There is a normal appearance: when there is a new thing coming to society, people and public need time to suit it. But this is a basic human rights to people who is like Andy. Andy is not guilty of course. But in 1993, maybe we couldn’t imagine how hard this court processed.

No matter if Andy wins in the court or not, he wins respect at least!

“You were pleased to have the opportunity to interview a well-known actor, or singer, who recently performed at your school. Write an article on the interview to be published in the school newspaper.”

School Newspaper: Nicolas Cage is the greatest actor in Hollywood. He is not a traditional good-looking man purely. Therefore, his beauty means a man not a boy; Especially his eyes, there is a feeling called charm! He has an illustrious family; his father is a famous director and actor until now. Probably his ability of acting is from his father, I use “probably”, because he never asked his father’s help. I consider the favourite movie he acted is “Family Man” which has little influence in Oscar. In this movie “Family Man”, he acts a successful husband and father; you can get more warm-heartedness in it. It is not easy to get an opportunity to have a conversation with him. If I was still in China, I think I could only see him in a magazine or television. So I am very happy to let everybody include me to deeply understand this superstar —Nicolas Cache!

Luffy Yu: Hello! Nicolas Cage! How do you feel our school?

Nicolas Cage: Well, this is not my first time to Australia but Australian school. I have no choice but say I am impressed! I can feel more safety and silent in school. I heart that Wesley College is the best personal school in Victoria. Wow! Now I think they are right!

Luffy Yu: Haha, Yeah! I am glad to hear that you like our school. Do you have any plan about living in Australia?

Nicolas Cage: Eh, I think it may happen in future. Australia is a very nice place to live. If I feel so old and tired in one day, I will buy a house near the sea and enjoy my life.

Luffy Yu: It sounds pretty good. Mr. Cage, talk to us about your business—movies!

Nicolas Cage: I think everybody saw “Ghost Rider”. Recently, I just finished a new movie “National Treasure” and I hope you will like it.

Luffy Yu: Thank you very much, Mr. Cage, I am very happy to talk with you.
